Social & Community Programs

"You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it"  (The Talmud)

Judaism's primary focus can be phrased as "Tikun Olam" - perfecting, healing and sanctifying an aching world.

Fundamental to our mission is helping those in need in any way we can:

Bikur Cholim
Volunteers visit the sick, whether affiliated or not, to cheer them up, recite a prayer, get the Hebrew name for a "Mi-Sheberach" prayer to be recited in the synagogue, and offer any other assistance that might be needed.

Counseling and Crisis intervention
At a difficult time, a chat with the Rabbi or his wife may well help a person see things in a clearer perspective. When necessary, we can help a person in need to find suitable professional help.

Gittel's Meals
Provide meals for new moms and dads (may there be many), shiva or illness. Help by cooking or ordering a meal from a local restaurant and delivering the meal. Contact Donna Reich at 917-770-8883. This program is sponsored in memory of Donna's mother, Gittel bas Meir o.b.m.

Home visits
Volunteers greet and comfort lonely seniors, shut-ins and new immigrants.

Koshering Services
To learn more about kosher, click here. We will be happy to come to your home to familiarize you with the laws and customs of keeping Kosher, and to help you with Koshering your dishes, cooking utensils and appliances.

Religious assistance
We offer assistance for lifecycle events - from baby naming to funerals.

Toys for Tots
Hospitalized children receive toys and games during Chanukah to help brighten up their holiday season.

If you know of anyone that could benefit from these services, please let us know. Also, if you would like to volunteer your help, please let us know.
